Logikal & Royal HaskoningDHV awarded landside project management contract for Schiphol Airport’s Capital Programme

Logikal has been appointed as Project Controls Consultant to Royal HaskoningDHV for its multi-year landside project management / construction management contract as part of Schiphol’s Capital Programme. Together they will manage the critical development of landside infrastructure works necessary to enable the construction of a new pier and terminal at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol which will create capacity for a further 14 million passengers a year.

Enhancing the competitive position of Schiphol

Over the next 6 years, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol will be expanding the airport considerably as part of its Capital Programme to include a new pier (2019) and new terminal (2023). The expansion is required in order to strengthen the competitive position of Mainport Schiphol, keep pace with the growth in aviation and continue to develop the position of ‘preferred airport’ among both airlines and passengers.

Royal HaskoningDHV and Logikal will be responsible for project management and construction management for all landside reconstruction work, including additional parking capacity, temporary connections to the surface level to increase capacity and expansion of elevated roads for Kiss & Ride and service roads to the new terminal.

The Capital Programme is a complex project not least because of the spatial limitations at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, but also the fact that the airport will remain in full use during construction.

This is also the reason why Schiphol seeks to strengthen the current project team with the addition of Royal HaskoningDHV and Logikal to manage these complexities and deliver the aims for the Schiphol airport of the future.

Tom Kent, UK Managing Director for Logikal, said: “We are proud to be collaborating with RHDHV, bringing our international airports experience and Project Controls expertise to support the next phase in Schiphol’s growth strategy and help cement its position as one of the world’s leading airports”.
