The project team comprised a global group of Vale personal plus external consultants.  The project team was led from Perth but key members were spread across offices in Kalgoorlie, Brisbane, Canada and Brazil.

Logistically, communicating across this team was very challenging and the role of project controls was critical in holding team members to account.

In July 2009 following successful completion of the Feasibility Study on time and within budget constraints, Vale chose not to proceed with the Project.

Phase I

Develop concept for how the PMO would be structured and run.

Phase II

Develop a program for the entire Feasibility study.  The process involved engaging with all members of the team and external consultants to create an integrated process flow.

This process successfully increased awareness of interdependencies between the technical streams and created a better understanding of the project critical path, risks and opportunities.

Phase III

Staffed the PMO controlling and reporting on costs, schedule risk, performance and providing weekly and monthly reporting.

LogiKal’s role was to chair progress meetings and teleconferences to resolve progress issues.  LogiKal also facilitated workshops to look at the overall schedule duration and the sequencing of activities and challenging the inter-dependencies between works stream to keep the project on schedule.
